Perhaps you’re here because you are considering entering therapy, and have some questions about how therapy works, and whether it can assist you at this time in your life. Maybe you want to focus on a very specific issue, or perhaps you feel that your life isn't as satisfying as you want it to be, but can't figure out why. You may have had troubling experiences that effect your relationships with others, and the quality of your work and daily life. I offer an empathetic approach to therapy, while encouraging you to explore the sometimes unconscious core beliefs and behaviors that may now be an obstacle in your life. I have experience working with:
Relationship Problems Chronic Feelings of Dissatisfaction Depression/Bipolar Disorder Generalized Anxiety and Panic Disorder Marital and Family Conflict Life Transitions Grief/Loss Substance Abuse and Self-Medicating Personality Disorders I offer long and short term psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a an approach that looks in depth at a persons thoughts and emotional life. Through these explorations and reflections, a path can be cleared for lasting change. Short term therapy generally lasts from 4-12 weeks, but can last up to 6 months. Short term therapy is best suited for the treatment of life transitions such as a sudden loss. Long term therapy can last up to a year, sometimes longer, and is best suited for the treatment of chronic issues and concerns. In this work, we may look at childhood traumas and experiences that have informed your personal life, in your work and in your relatinships with others. I work with individuals age 13 and over, and I also enjoy working with couples and families. |
